The Digital Video Workshop was initiated in January, 2007. Over 20 participants meet every month to discuss, view and learn about Digital Video Systems.

Beginners are welcome...We are all learning from each other the techniques that make "movie making" fun. Some of our members are very professional and have years of experience, but most are Villagers that are interested in developing "CD's, DVD's or other digital media formats".

Come and visit us on the 2nd Tuesdays at 3:00pm in the Mens Club Room.

January's meeting was primarily organizational to determine the scope of the participants interests, software/hardware. Bill and Joanne Harms gave an excellent presentation of a DVD they had produced primarily through the use of the Pinnacle system. Joanne explained the complete process from inception to completion.

February's meeting had Dick Travis showing the camera's he uses for taking pictures and videos, along with some of the videos taken on a recent vacation. Some power points were presented for beginning Digital Video Basics, which are available below.

Anthony Evans gave an interesting presentation on a recent CD she produced with titles, transitions and music. She told of her experiences and the fun she is having in documenting all kinds of pictures and sound into keepsakes for her family. Anthony used a ULEAD program to do the editing.

Dick Travis also ran a DVD produced by a friend he met from Kokomo, Indiana on a recent cruise This DVD contained videos, pictures, transitions, text, music and was also edited with a ULEAD product.

The March meeting featured Fred O'Hara and a 20 minute DVD that Fred produced regarding his family's visit to the 1939 World's Fair in New York. Fred had to convert his slides into digital format and used Pinnacle to add text, music and his wonderful narration for the film. Old film was also converted and edited into the finished product.

The Pinnacle system was set up on the laptop to be used in further meetings.

Other questions/answers were handled by the attendees.

The April meeting featured Bill and Joanne Harms and a special movie that they produced with the assistance of Jim and Mary Anne Wright. They developed the idea for the film and planned the sequencing of shots and stressed the need for proper planning to produce an interesting video. All of the digital photos and videos were shot in the OHCC Billiards Room--and the final cut of the video, showed Joanne Harms making an "unbelievable pool shot" to beat her "Macho Husband"???

A great job and interesting to hear how it was planned, shot, edited and finalized.

The May meeting featured Jim and Mary Anne Wright's 12 minute video of the OHCC's Palm Court. The village contracted for4 very large palm trees to be placed into the palm court last year. Jim and Mary Anne documented the entire procedure, including the placing of a camera on the cranes which were necessary to lift the giant trees over the clubhouse. Very interesting video, with comments by Jim and an interview with the Landscape Director by Mary Anne. They produced the video with Pinnacle 10.

Bill Harms showed a 9 minute Training Video showing tips on how to improve your movie making skills.

A Web site (below) was shown by Dick Travis concerning ratings for Camcorders.

Bill Harms mentioned another web site where good buys have been found ...below:

Questions and feedback on other subjects such as conversions of old VCR's and other problems that users are facing were discussed among the attendees.
