October Meeting:

Editing Your Photos or VCR's to CD's or DVD's,
Bill Harms, Bob Vanderhagen and Bud DeMaris

October Meeting:

The October 26th meeting featured a local panel explaining and discussing the various ways and means to transfer, edit and ultimately store your favorite snapshots, VCR's or digital movies on DVD's, CD's and other forms of computer files.

Bill Harms (right), who is very experienced in editing Video's and Bob Vanderhagen, who is also very experienced in the transferring of VCR's to standalone DVD's explained their techniques, along with some examples. Bud DeMaris showed his approach to making CD Videos and Dick Travis moderated the meeting and discussed some computer programs to easily show your pictures and music on computers.

It was an entertaining hour and the members had many questions concerning the various ways and means of getting our pictures and videos processed through computer software and hardware.

September Meeting:

Digital Photography, Tom Underhill

Tom Underhill was our speaker from Anaheim. Tom gave us an overview of Digital Photography and some insights and tricks in the Photoshop software. His presentation was full of "giveaways" of chocolate candy, which has become his style. Everyone who was active in his presentation enjoyed the light way to presenting a rather difficult technical subject and enjoyed the chocolates as well.

Tom gave away one of his books (Online Privacy & Protection) to a lucky winner (Sir Gordon Bishop) and had a table full of books and other information available for the members after the meeting.

Thanks to Tom Underhill. Everyone learned something new about photography, and went home with eager anticipation of editing their photos...

Thanks to Larry Lara and Jessica Asbun of Total Training, Inc. of Carlsbad for providing us with an excellent presentation of their various training programs for Adobe digital picture software.. They took us through some of the features of their training software and answered many questions from the members.

A grand prize of their Photoshop Elements 3 Training Disk was won by Terry Eckhardt (below) with Larry Lara.

"Learning about Google"

Dick Travis, our Webmaster presented an interesting and informative program about Google...

He presented a power point presentation from the University of Minnesota and walked us through his outline and various examples of how to use Google to master the use of the internet.

Dick gave away various "Google" fun items including some "Google Light Pens", Google "Blinkies" and a Computer Eye Shield for those members spending too much time surfing the net.

April's Meeting:

"Identity Theft"

Wayne Widener from the San Marcos Computer Club gave an excellent presentation regarding a timely topic: Identity Theft. Wayne also gave out disks containing his presentation and other software needed to protect yourself from Identity Theft.

Many questions regarding the threats were directed to Wayne. We appreciate his efforts at documenting this ever growing problem and giving us some very timely tips to reduce our exposure.

Watching Wayne on the Big Screen at Abravanel Hall...

She walked us through the entire process for developing power point presentations for our family or whoever...and showed us how to download the free Power Point reader, so that we can all open power point slide presentations many times sent to us by email.
